This is an easy but beautiful puzzle of Geometry.
A Solid square based pyramid, with all edges of unit length, and a solid triangle-base pyramid(tetrahedron),also with all edges of unit length, are glued together by matching two triangular faces.
How many faces does the resulting solid have?
Is the answer 7 ?
ReplyDeleteIf it is then I don't see why is this a "beautiful puzzle of geometry",
if not, then I take my remarks back and would urge the moderators to shed some light on the solution.

ReplyDeleteI expect it to be 5, i.e., the same as that of the square based pyramid.
